Welcome to the Jungle

Helping your children to become a more responsible digital citizen

Parent Meeting:  Tuesday, October 16, 2018 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Where:  Ulysses High School Gym
Presenting:  Senior Special Agent Bethanie Popejoy of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation

“Welcome to the Jungle” is the second generation of a Kansas Bureau of Investigation presentation, launched in January 2015, to inform Western Kansas students about the consequences of using their electronic devices to express anger, explore sexuality, and pull pranks that snare them within the statutory elements of a crime.  Senior Special Agent (SSA) Bethanie F. Popejoy will discuss the physiological, psychological, and emotional differences that enhance the teen propensity to act in the presumed privacy of the devices that often become very public. SSA Popejoy will also discuss the elements of crimes, specific to electronic actions, Constitutional considerations and the criminal justice system so that students may make informed decisions about their use of electronic devices prior to making mistakes that will impact their future.
