Good Friday Observed April 15th, Easter Monday April 18th;
The District Office will be closed Friday, April 15th in observance of Good Friday so children will be able to participate in family observances of this solemn day. This is the day Christians commemorate Jesus' crucifixion. Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day, Christians commemorate the Passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of the Lord, Jesus Christ. The District Office will also be closed Monday, April 18th for Easter Monday.
Here are some fun suggestions for families:
- Family could attend Good-Friday services together
- House cleaning (A Jewish custom before Passover)
- Feasting (Enjoy cooking some home-cooked favorites together)
- Foot Washing (Wrap a towel around your waist, as Jesus did, and wash your children’s feet, your lives might never be the same)
- Read the Biblical account together (Jesus' death on the cross, or crucifixion, his burial and his resurrection, or raising from the dead, can be found in the following passages of Christian Scripture: Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30.
- Sing old hymns of the Crucifixion and the Cross: “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.”
- Most Catholic churches offer Stations of the Cross, fourteen plaques circling the interior walls which depict the final hours of Jesus’ life. You may want to visit and contemplate these, one by one.

- Take your family to Church Easter Morning
