Kepley Middle School Robotics Team Competes in Liberal

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, Kelpey Middle School students competed in Mid-America Air Museum’s second annual Southwest Kansas First Lego League (FLL) Championship in Liberal, KS.
The Kepley Cubs team was composed of Tyler Sturm, Garret Winner, Braxton Moral, Brendan Stejskal, Brandon Heinrichs, Devin Rodenberg, and Coach Garrett Ridder.
These students prepared for the competition by designing, building, programming robots; by creating a project focused on solving Natural Disaster based problems, and by learning about and practicing FLL’s Core Values.
The Kepley team won the FLL trophy for the Teamwork and was commended by judges and other coaches for not only their great teamwork, but also for their knowledge, passion, and innovative robotic designs.
The team would like to thank Principal Juan Perez, Assistant Principal Cynthia Corn and Kepley Middle School for their support and collaboration in making this activity possible.
Other thanks go out to Zach Pixler, Pioneer Electric, Ulysses Standard Supply, Ulysses Building Supply, and Grant County Recreation for contributing to build robotics and engineering education in Ulysses.
